Laura Hamilton, associate sociology professor at the University of California at Merced and author of “Parenting to a Degree,” talks about student success and the role of parents on higher education campuses.

“It’s a constant stream of advice. And it’s multiple times a day on the cell phone with texts, phone calls. All day long, helping their children to not make mistakes, basically mistakes that would cause them not to persist at the university,” says Hamilton.
