Podcast: A State Leader’s Vision for Higher Ed

Kim Hunter Reed, Louisiana’s Commissioner of Higher Education, discusses the state’s higher education vision and new strategic plan, which represents a “big tent” approach that incorporates all people including veterans, foster youth and single parents.

Reed explains, “How do we think about bringing all talent developers to the table and redefine or more broadly define talent in a state where one in five people are in poverty? And say that we know that skills and competencies matter. This is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity in our state. And so how do we build systems and structures to help everyone get there?”
