Podcast: Exploring the Next Generation of Higher Ed
Ted Mitchell, the President of American Council on Education, talks about what is happening in Washington and beyond related to higher education. As the former undersecretary of education in the Obama administration, he explains the differing roles government and institutions play in furthering higher education.
Mitchell elaborates, “Every institution I know and have been a part of would love to be just left alone, let us pursue our work. And government is sorta working on the other side, what are the guardrails that we need to put in place to protect and then fill in the blank, students, investors, taxpayers, from potential waste, fraud and abuse. So I think it is a healthy tension.”
