Saint Leo University President Jeff Senese joins FutureU hosts Jeff Selingo and Michael B. Horn to discuss the trend toward mergers and acquisitions in higher education. The Florida university recently announced a merger with Marymount California University, though accreditors just blocked the move.
“How do you respond to those who say all you’re doing is buying assets and not really helping students?” asked President Senese. “You don’t need multiple presidents, multiple provosts…You can run quite large institutions with fairly lean leadership. And that’s where the financial value add is!”
