In this season finale, Jeff Selingo and Michael Horn reflect on major themes that emerged throughout the year and review their favorite episodes. They argue that a clear institutional mission is important as colleges navigate enrollment declines, financial pressures, and changing student demand and explore how cybersecurity risks and artificial intelligence are challenging campuses to rethink their future.
Selingo reflects, “And so this evolution, I think, is coming again for higher ed. Some won’t survive, some will, others will evolve—evolve their mission, for example. But this is why I’m kind of hopeful about the future of higher ed. Not all institutions, but we do know that so many of these institutions have survived the ups and downs of this country from before its founding.”
