Jeff Selingo and Michael Horn visit the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and interview President Santa Ono about U-M’s status as the state’s flagship school and its role in the local community. The interview is followed by a panel discussion with Rob Ernst, associate vice president of Student Life for Health and Wellness, Judith Pennywell, director of the International Center, and Lashaun Jackson, student in the School for Environment and Sustainability. Topics ranged from study abroad and the value of global education to sustainability to supporting student mental health.
“The goal is to try and identify mutually reinforcing activities that lead to policy and system change so that you can actually work upstream on the drivers of distress,” said Ernst. The whole ecosystem improves that way.”
